 Athletic Director and Administrator  Athletic Director – Scott Jones and  Administrator – Aaron Rogers and If you have questions after this meeting… You may call or athletic director.

 Coaches  8 th Baseball – Coach Mas: varsity baseball at Mesa High  7 th Baseball – Coach Bandura: JV baseball at Mesa  8 th Softball – Coach Cooper and Coach Huskey  7 th Softball – Coach Morales  Girls Badminton – Coach Scott and Coach Maile: Mesa students  Boys Volleyball – Coach McEvers  Players must maintain a ‘C’ or above in every class to remain eligible to practice and play

1. Before your son or daughter may tryout a “Permission to Participate” form must be turned in. 2. Make sure to write their grade level at the top. 3. If that paper is not turned in, they may not participate until it is. 4. Your son or daughter must also give the coach a copy of their 1 st quarter report card. 5. If a player does not turn in their report card, they may not be chosen for the team.

 Begin tomorrow at field and in the gym. Badminton and volleyball will share the gym.  Tryouts will be three days (this may be adjusted due to weather)  Tryouts are closed to parents - per district policy  Each team will consist of players  There will be separate 7 th and 8 th grade teams in baseball and softball - but not volleyball or badminton  Equipment for baseball and softball must be store before school in PE storage room-back of gym

 NO GUARENTEED PLAYING TIME  If selected for team and a player does not pay on time - they will be dropped Monday, October 31 st.  Practices will 3-5 days a week and will be more intense with goals and drills designed at a high level  Players must maintain a ‘C’ in every class with weekly grade checks which begin November 7 th.

 Players must maintain a ‘C’ in every class with weekly grade checks  Team practices begin Monday, October 24 th.  Practices will end each day between 6-7 PM.  Players must have a ride home.  The objective of these teams is to give ALL players opportunities to improve their skills and knowledge in the sport so Taylor may be competitive in games and the player may be better prepared for high school – but there is no guaranteed playing time.  Pictures are scheduled for Nov 4 th after school.

 Tryout sheet – must be turned in before you leave  Registration  Only when your son or daughter is chosen for a team - stop by the bookstore and pick up a packet. The packet will include the following … 1. Registration and payment form 2. Emergency contact form 3. Ride home with parents form (optional) and 4. The Taylor Sports Contract  All of these papers must be submitted to the bookstore to complete the process - by Monday, Oct 31 st.

 You may pay on-line or through the bookstore  On-line – 2 links: you may access the site through the Taylor home page OR  OR here at Taylor in Bookstore: pay with check or cash

 Players will maintain a ‘C’ or above in every class to remain eligible to practice and play  Players will be at school at least 6 out of 8 classes every day and have very few behavior issues (less time at school results in missed practices or games)  Players will attend every practice and game  Players will have a ride home from every practice and game  Players will ride the bus to and from away games unless a “Ride Home” permission slip is turned in to bookstore  Players will represent both their family and Taylor Jr. High with their best behavior, effort, attitude and sportsmanship - both at practice and at games (home or away)  Players will maintain a ‘C’ or above in every class to remain eligible to practice and play

 If a player is not able to meet the expectations there will be follow through. Follow through could include, but is not limited to:  Suspension from practice  Suspension from games  Suspension from travel with the team  Removal from the team for current season and maybe the following season  All of these examples will not lead to money being refunded.

 At the junior high level we are preparing students for the rigors of high school and high school sports.  Most high schools have weekly grade checks so that the coaches are aware of the player’s academic standing.  Since many of these players desire to play at the next level, it only makes sense for them to learn the responsibilities that come with the desire to play at the next level.

 After teams are chosen--  Players will give their portal print out every Monday to their coach. This will determine if the player is eligible to participate in the practices and/or games that week  Any player that is at school and does not turn in a print out of their grades will be classified as ‘ineligible’ to practice or play that week  If a student is absent on Monday they are able to turn in the grade sheet Tuesday, before school, to the athletic director. If they don’t - they are ineligible for the week.

 At this time are there any general questions I may address?  If you have individual questions, feel free to see me after the meeting.  If there are no more questions…  All Baseball – stay right here  All Softball – to my right  Badminton - move to my right and back  Volleyball – back section just outside the short wall
