1 Welcome Athletic Director’s Meeting Lincolnwood Jr/Sr High School
July 9th and July 16th

2 Informational Meeting
Required to attend 1 meeting each year Also required to attend a coach’s meeting before each season begins

3 Physicals Must have an up-to-date physical that is good from the 1st day of practice through the season May not participate in a sport without an up-to-date physical There is a physical card on the IHSA and IESA website Not needed, but is helpful

4 Athletic Fee Each player must pay $50 per sport to participate in a sport at Lincolnwood Athletes who play a sport at a different school must follow that school’s policies Must be paid before the 1st contest There is a maximum of $110 per player 3rd sport played at Lincolnwood = $10 If there are issues with payment, please contact the athletic director Athletic Fees to other schools DO NOT apply to Lincolnwood maximum

5 Eligibility Posted on Friday afternoons
Runs from the following Monday through Sunday Must be passing all classes Cannot have all “D”s; must have at least 1 “C” High School – semester Junior High – Quarter Ineligible May attend practices if coach allows Cannot ride the bus or sit with team at games Removed after 3 weeks of ineligibility Other host schools have their own policies

6 Extra-Curricular Handbook
Penalties for alcohol, drug, or tobacco use 1st offense If self-reported within 2 days; 3 game suspension If not self-reported within 2 days; 6 game suspension 2nd offense Curfews Sunday-Thursday -10:00 PM Friday – State curfew unless there is a contest on Saturday, then 10:00 PM

7 Random Drug Testing Lincolnwood High School IHSA
All students who participate in athletic, extra-curricular activities or drive to school are entered into pool Random draw by testing company Cheek swab Results are confidential Positive test = students suspended for 2 weeks from competition, but can practice Reinstatement = completion of an approved program IHSA Teams and names drawn randomly by IHSA – urine sample

8 Riding the Bus Must ride bus to away games
Exceptions made with AD Please try and allow 24 hour notice Coach may allow athletes to sign-out after games Parent/Guardian, Grandparent, Aunt/Uncle, older sibling (21 or older) Exceptions made with AD before contest; not a phone call after the game Late bus Must sign up in high school office by 1:00 PM

10 Conferring With A Coach
Emotions run high at athletic competitions Observe the 24 hour rule Follow the chain of command

11 Conferring With Players
Limit contact during contests Players can lose focus Can cause disqualifications

12 Intramural vs. Interscholastic
These are interscholastic contests; not intramural There are a number of goals associated with these contests One of the main ones is to win the game “We play to win the game!” – Herm Edwards No guarantee of playing time; regardless of their age

13 Absences Must be at school before 10:00 AM Friday absences
Exceptions – pre-arranged doctor’s appointments, college visits If a student leaves school sick, they may not return and participate Friday absences Coaches discretion on Saturday games

14 Athletic Trainer Students may see an athletic trainer on Tuesdays and Thursdays during school Schedule may change on a weekly basis Contact AD or secretary if services are needed Note from a parent is also needed; or phone call

15 Soccer/Softball Field
DO NOT PARK IN THE GRASS OR DRIVEWAY ALONG THE 1ST BASE LINE OF THE SOFTBALL FIELD Handicap, officials, coaches , administration parking only Those working the concession stand may park there to drop off supplies, but then need to move to the church parking lot Also a fire lane

17 Sportsmanship Should be exhibited at all times
This means players, fans and parents Athletic field is an extension of the classroom

18 T.E.A.M. Golf Outing August 25th
Still looking for donations, hole sponsors, and sponsorships If interested, please see Josh Stone, Patty Clarke, or Dana Pitchford Trifecta tickets still available Please turn in any sold or unsold tickets when school starts

19 Sports Banquets Dates and locations will be set by the coaches following the season

21 Team Meetings Each sport will have their own Parent/Player meetings before the season starts Will try to announce these via Twitter and Facebook JH Softball – Thursday, July 12th – 7PM – Coach Neisler’s Classroom Golf – Monday, July 16th – Following AD Meeting - Library Soccer – Tuesday, July 24th – 6:30 – Soccer Field JH Baseball – Monday, July 30th – 7:30 – Baseball Field HS Volleyball – Tuesday, August 7th – 7PM – Cafeteria

22 Fill Out Forms All athletes and parents must complete the following:
Attendance IHSA Sports Medicine Acknowledgement & Consent Form (IHSA logo at the top) Health Card Return completed copies to the stage Please keep the stapled copy of the IHSA Sports Medicine Acknowledgement & Consent Form (IHSA logo at the top) for your information. I don’t want it back!!!
