1 AHS Cheer Parent Meeting, March 28, 2019

2 Things to do before we get started:
Turn in at least $375 deposit, Please pay online. The links where sent in an . They are also on our Cheer website. Turn in or pick up NCA and SMU form, travel release form, and your child’s clothing order form with your Balance Due.

3 Expectations and Behavior
Cheerleaders/mascots are expected to behave in a manner that is becoming to the individual, as well as to the organization they represent. They should be aware that in or out of uniform they are representatives of the cheerleading squad and the school they attend and should act accordingly. Pg. 9 guidelines Maintaining a higher standard of conduct will also include ensuring that cheerleader’s/mascot’s websites/social media are appropriate. The internet is a worldwide, publicly accessible form of communication. Cheerleaders/mascots will be responsible for any social media communication including but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Vine or photo sharing, etc. that appears on the internet even if it is marked private. Cheerleaders/mascots are responsible for their personal websites and postings as well as for postings on other students’ websites. The area of appropriateness will include, but are not limited to, language (abbreviated or alluding to), pictures, suggestive poses, clothing, reference and or depicting the use of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco including Vaping. Any question of appropriateness will be decided by the sponsor. NO student, or parent are allowed to create any social media under Allen Cheerleading without permission from the coach and/or administration.

4 REMOVAL Students who are academically ineligible for three reporting periods, consecutive or non-consecutive, will be removed from the squad for the remainder of the year to focus on their academics. The possession and/or use of alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs including vaping are expressly forbidden and will not be tolerated. Any infraction, on or off campus, as a cheerleader/mascot will result in dismissal from the squad. Any member given out of school suspension, expelled from school or sent to DAEP for any reason will be removed from the squad for the remainder of the school year and will NOT be allowed to tryout the next year.

5 Physicals Physicals must be completed between May 1 – May 23. They are due at the beginning of practice on May 24. DO NOT miss a practice due to getting your physical. Please schedule it for another time. Physicals are required by the school district. Forms for physicals are available on the athletic website.

6 Upcoming Dates Mascots only attend the Tuesday practices. April 9, 2019 – Practice in AHS gym 4-5:30pm½ of Remaining Balance due. April 11, 2019 – Practice in AHS gym 4-5:30pm * (fittings) April 16, 2019 – Practice in AHS PE gym 4-5:30pm (fittings) April 18, Practice in AHS PE gym 4-5:30pm (fittings) April 23, Practice in AHS PE gym 4-5:30pm April 25, 2019 – Practice in AHS gym 4-5:30pm April 30, practice LFC gym 4-5:30pm May 2, 2019 – practice LFC gym 4-5:30pm May 7, Practice in LFC gym 4-5:30pm Final payment due May 14, 2019 – Practice in LFC gym 4-5:30pm May16, 2019 – Spring Game May 21, 2019 – Practice in LFC gym 4-5:30pm May 23, 2019 – Practice in AHS gym 4-5:30pm (PICTURES) AFTER May 1, BEFORE May 24, 2019 Physical exams done and dated. MUST be turned in before camp! June SMU June 2-5 Do not plan a vacation after Aug. 5th, JV and Varsity only Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving, plan to cheer up to Christmas Eve.

7 Camp SMU June 2-5. Camp schedule is on NCA website. (mascots will not attend) Roommates –coaches will assign Meet at AHS at 9:00am (Bring Lunch) Travel to SMU – cheerleaders/mascots ride buses to camp, EVERYONE must have a ride home from camp on JUNE 5th turn in travel release by 5/7. (or tonight!) We will check into rooms, eat lunch and head to opening ceremonies. All bags will be checked before they get on the bus.

8 Schedule Calendars each month will be provided with the schedule of events. What to wear each day. Camp SMU June 2-5 Captains meeting in the summer (Varsity Only) Spring Football Game – May 16th Summer Practices begin August 5th. Times and additional dates TBD, will be in the afternoon. ALL VARSITY will be learning the UIL Competition routine!

9 Payments Payment for Clothes: DO NOT ALTER UNIFORMS!! Until we have given you the ok!! Specific dates for uniform fittings. Your individual itemized amount for VARSITY. (2 sheets) Camp fee $375 Meals for games $100 Varsity and JV Meals for games $75 Freshman Camp t-shirts $50. The payments are as follows: Tonight deposit at least $375 April 9th ½ of the remaining costs May 7th Final payment due!! Online payment will be on our website. You can pay online. All payments must be completed by May 7th.

11 Competition/ Performance Course
Varsity squad will have a game day routine that aligns with UIL competition guidelines – fight song, time out band dance, game day cheer. UIL competition in January. Freshman will compete in NCA State of Texas Competition in December Performance course in the Summer/Spring

13 Before you leave… Please make sure you’ve turned in –
NCA Camp Form – Make sure witness signature is complete (can be anyone other than the parent or cheerleader) $5 if you choose YES for insurance. Do not make checks to ALLEN, SMU PLEASE! Payment of at Least $375 deposit Due May 7th or TONIGHT – SMU/Travel Release (required to drive your child home from camp) Payment dates 4/9, 5/7 Online payments will be available on the website.
