How to Use SurveyMonkey To begin, open your browser Go to Create and account Use and active for username Click on “New Survey” and select from scratch

Survey/Test Goals What do you want to know from the survey? What type of questions do you want to ask? Are these questions subjective or objective? Subjective questions require judgement Objective questions are closed-response multiple choice Who needs to take the survey/tests?

Survey/Test Question Types True or False Portugal is a member of the European Union. O True O False (Horton 224) Horton, William. e-Learning by Design, 2nd Edition, 2nd Edition. John Wiley & Sons P&T, 9/26/11. VitalBook file. Pick one (SurveyMonkey, )

Survey/Test Question Types Fill in the blank questions Blackboard Help, 2014) ( Scale Value questions (Wyse, 2011)

Question Sequencing Sequencing questions are to be placed in order from beginning to end. (Wyse, 2011) Sequencing tests learner’s ability to place events in order

Sequencing Questions Don’ts If there is more than one correct order; do not sequence Do not allow the learner to guess about information (Horton, 2010) Do’s Historic events by date Ranking value Indicate “chronological order” or from beginning to end Innovation by chain of events

Feedback from Learners Good Feedback Give scoring immediately Stay unbiased and be objective to customer’s opinions Do not ask unnecessary questions Avoid hypothetical questions

(Pryor & Laennec, 2011)

Results Processing Are questions weighted equally? Are some questions worth more than others? Not all assessments must be tests; they can be activities or projects Self-assessments is a rapid way to evaluate student comprehension Quizzes should be given when record keeping is required (Horton, 2010)
