2 Quiz Types – Graded Quiz
The most common quiz is a graded quiz. Canvas automatically creates a column in the grade book for any graded quizzes you build. Once a student takes the quiz, certain question types will be automatically graded.

3 Quiz Types – Practice Quiz
Can be used as a learning tool to help students gauge understanding. Students do not receive a grade for practice quizzes. The quiz results display (to the students) the number of points earned. Practice Quizzes do not appear in the Gradebook or the Syllabus Tab.

4 Quiz Types – Graded Survey
Allows instructor to give students points for completing a survey. Survey cannot be graded for right or wrong answers. Graded surveys have the option to be anonymous.

5 Quiz Types – Ungraded Survey
Ungraded survey allows you to get opinions or other information from your students. Students do not receive a grade for their responses. You can make responses anonymous. Ungraded surveys do not appear in the Gradebook or the Syllabus Tab.

6 Quiz Options – Settings
Shuffle Answers Time Limit – once you begin the exam will not be paused. If not limit is set, students have unlimited time. Multiple Attempts Quiz Responses – default visible Each Attempt Visible Responses Correct Answer – default visible One Question at a Time - will lock answers after they are answered.

7 Quiz Options – Expanded Menu Options
Allow Multiple Attempts Recent Quiz Score – Choose to keep highest or latest score. Allowed Attempts – Allow multiple attempts and limit the number of attempts. Let Students See Their Quiz Responses Allow at Least One Attempt – student see responses after their last attempt Show One Question at a Time Lock Questions – students cannot return to the previous question once it has been answered.

8 Unpublished Quiz Options
Publish Button – Publish when finished editing Preview Button – Displays a student view of the quiz Edit Button – Edit the quiz details and questions Settings Menu – Edit Questions and Overall Quiz Settings Show Rubric – Use Rubric to show students how they will be evaluated (such as essay questions) Lock the Quiz Now – Students cannot access even if published. Title is visible but question details are not. Delete Note: Unpublished quizzes can only be viewed by the instructor.

12 Give Extra Time/Attempts
Go to the Quizzes Tab in Canvas Click on the name of the quiz you want to moderate. Click Moderate This Quiz The Display allows the you to view the following: Student Name # of times student has attempted to take quiz Time it too to take quiz # of attempts remaining, if any Student’s quiz score Refresh button

13 Give Extra Time/Attempts
To Moderate a quiz for a student click the pencil next to their name and then edit Extensions Extra Attempts Field Extra Time If you did not allow quiz results to be visible, you can allow certain students to see results one more time. If you lock your quiz, you can manually unlock the quiz for certain students.
