Home of the toucan The home of the toucan is the South America tropical forests.

Diet Toco toucans eat insects and sometimes they eat young birds,eggs or lizards.

The bill The bill The 7.5 inch long (19cm long) bill use it to pick food. A toucans bill is a useful thing for food. The toucan’s bill is useful as a feeding tool. The birds use them to reach fruit on branches that are to small to support their weight, and also to skin their pickings.

More facts about bills! They use their beaks to reach fruit or to pull chicks of the nest holes The toucans bill looks heavy but its light. Toucan talk with loud, croaking sound. The bills colour may be black, blue, brown, green, red, white, yellow or a combination of colour. The bright color on the bill help to attract a toucan mate.

Babies Toucans lay 2~4 white eggs in their nest, when the eggs hatch, the young emerge don’t have any down ( fine feathers)

Adaptations Toucans have three adaptations that help them survive. The first one is that they have bills to eat food. The second adaptation they have claws on each leg. They have 2 legs to grasp onto branches. The last adaptation is the colour it’s feather changed in order to blend into it’s surroundings.

Predators The toucans predators are humans, big cats and it’s worst enemy is the jaguar. When predators come the toucan camouflages with its bright colours.

Games Not only people can play games, toucans can play too! Toucans mates play games of catch, tossing berries.

How does it sleep? When they sleep, they turns their heads around and tuck their bill under their wings and tail.
