Listening and Changing Project

 Client  Board Member  Carer  Staff – Local person and CEO  DFI

 Number of ideas  What is possible within the time?  What is possible with resources?  What is not being done?  Ensuring that the clients were informed and comfortable with the process at all times.

 Carers and the connection with Headway  Current situation  Gaps for some carers  Holistic approach – Headway provides a service and supports to people with acquired brain injuries extending support to carers

 Discussed idea with Clients first  Contacted Carers to participate  Consulted with a number of Carers on a one to one basis  Drafted a list of items from the consultation  Internal meeting to work out what could be done  Met with Carers to give them feedback on solutions

 One page information sheet for carers on who to contact for information and that they can contact not just about scheduled meetings  Relationship difficulties were highlighted and an information session from a Marriage Counselling service was included in the feedback session  More regular phone calls to Carers to just check in  More information on Headways and the range of services

 Exploring smaller geographical Carers groups to minimise the impact of travel issues  Holding an open day in Headway when the Clients will discuss what they do in Headway

 More Carers turned up for the feedback session than participated in the consultation  Changes implemented were cost neutral  Use of signposting for Carers
