1 Looking for Nspire-ation
Day 13 Looking for Nspire-ation

2 Your next task… … choose one of the three applets
… develop questions that push and probe students’ thinking as they use the applets … the questions need to deepen student understanding of the topics you identified

3 As you begin this task…. Think about your own experience using the applets Consider how to move your students beyond guess & check Ensure that using the applet is more than just a game

4 Keep in mind strengths from before…
Questions which varied an existing situation and asked students to consider the impact. Questions that were framed around the ideas of compare and contrast. Questions which required interpretation of a problem or solution. Questions which required making a connection between and among ideas. Questions which probed possible misconceptions.

5 Reminders about using technology
Intent is different than textbook lessons Not intended to teach a method or algorithm Intended to deepen mathematical underpinnings

6 Schedule As a table, 5 minutes to choose an applet as a table
5 minutes individual time to reflect on your thinking on that applet Come back together as a table group Remainder of time work together to decide on questions Write questions on poster board (dark markers)
