Competitor Statement Their filter element is Beta 4 micron Because of the higher beta ratio the engine will last longer The filter is certified 2
Response to Competitor Statement Filter element is Beta 4 micron – TRUE, based on Parker ACM Particle Counter test. Because of the higher beta ratio the engine will last longer – TRUE, if the wear particles are removed and the engine oil is kept cleaner, longer life can be expected. The filter is certified – TRUE, Competitor contracted Parker to certify the Beta ratio using a Parker ACM particle counter. 3
Explanation of Beta Ratio Competitor - B 4=10,649 = 100% efficiency at 4 micron Racor – B 3=929 =100% efficiency at 3 micron. 4
Typical Beta Ratio Chart Upstream particles = 1,000,000 Downstream particles = 500,000 Resulting Beta ratio is 2 with an efficiency of 50% 5 Beta rating comes from multi-pass method ISO
What Does The Beta Ratio Tell A direct correlation (ratio) between upstream particles and downstream particles. By dividing the downstream count from the upstream count you will arrive at a beta ratio. The filter efficiency can then be accurately calculated by (beta-1)/beta)x100. 6
What Doesn’t Beta Ratio Tell Indication of dirt holding capacity Stability or performance over time Does not take into account any operating conditions such as flow surges or changes in temperature. 7
Racor and Competitor Efficiency Comparison 8 BetaEfficiency %Comparison Racor - 3 Micron Competitor - 4 Micron Racor does not advertise a 4 micron element. Competitor does not advertise a 3 micron element. The difference between the efficiency of the advertised elements is.1%.

Particle Flow – Axial versus Radial 10 Axial Flow More solids are trapped as they progress through multi-layered media Radial Flow Greater chance of particles passing through the media or pre-mature plugging
