Veterans Day Veterans Day is an annual American holiday honoring military veterans. Both a federal holiday and a state holiday in all states, it is usually observed on November 11. Why I celebrate Veterans Day. Veterans Day to me is a sad holiday because I had a great, great grandpa in World War 2.

How we celebrate Veterans Day. How do we celebrate Veterans' Day? I guess many people will celebrate it just like they celebrate any other holiday. They will go to the mall and go shopping! I would like to suggest some other ways we might celebrate this important holiday. - Fly a flag in your yard to remind others that this is a day to honor those who have served. - Spend some time in prayer. Give thanks to God for those who served to defend the cause of freedom. - Observe two minutes of silence. Concentrate on remembering those who have died defending the cause of freedom. - Wear a Poppy. A Poppy is a red flower which is worn to show others that you are remembering those who died for their country. The poppy was chosen because it reminds us of a place called Flanders Fields where many soldiers from the first World War are buried. The poppies grow there between the crosses that mark their graves.
