World History Chapter 2 Early Humans: The Story Begins

The Hunters Ice age – most of world was covered by glaciers Topography was changed by hunters followed food Gatherers collected food Stone Age - Weapons and tools –Wood, bones, stones

The Farmers Glaciers melted leaving rivers and lakes Land was not frozen Growing food Settle down into civilization

Agricultural Revolution People settled in large groups Chose areas with good soil and plenty of water Raised animals Crafts Different jobs- specialization Trading began Needed protection Formed armies, villages, cities

The Fertile Crescent Earliest farming in middle east around river valleys Tigris/Euphrates rivers Plenty of water/great soils Mesopotamia Jericho first city Built wall to protect their city
