2 Prehistoric People Hunter-Gathering Period – time before farming when man hunted and gathered wild plants for food Paleolithic Age – ‘old stone age’ Nomadic – people got their food from hunting and gathering Used simple tools – chipped stone Fire was discovered and they learned how to make it

3 neolithic Age – ‘New stone age’
People began to farm and produce their own food Neolithic Revolution – man changed from hunter to farmer – Agricultural Revolution Some consider this the biggest event in human history Domesticate – tamed animals and raised them for food rather than hunting Results: Population increased – better, more stable food supply Specialization – people began to specialize in one job Trade Began Governments form – organized village life Tools – became more sophisticated – ground and polished Civilization – societies developed with knowledge of farming, trade, government, arts, and science Stone age ends with the development of Bronze – ushers in the Bronze age even better weapons and tools
