Early Humans What do you think a “revolution” is? Main Idea: In the Neolithic Age, people started farming, building communities, producing goods, and trading.

3 Domesticated animals carried goods and provided meat, milk, and wool.
Early Humans Neolithic Times In the beginning of the Neolithic Age, people began to domesticate, or tame, animals. Why would having domesticated animals be a good thing? Write down three reasons that you can think of. Domesticated animals carried goods and provided meat, milk, and wool.

Early Humans Neolithic Times People in different parts of the world began growing crops about the same time. Historians call this change the farming revolution.

5 Neolithic Times This means they’re no longer what???
Because farmers needed to stay close to their fields, they built permanent homes in villages. The earliest known communities have been found in the Middle East. One of the oldest villages is Jericho in present-day Israel and Jordan. Permanent villages provided people with security and steady food.

7 Neolithic Times The surplus food led to a larger population.
Not all people in a village were farmers. Some made pottery, mats, and cloth. (Specialization) They traded these goods for things they did not have.

8 Neolithic Times People continued to create new technology.
They created better farming tools and began working with metal, copper, and tin. What is technology? Technology = Anything that makes our lives easier They also began working with bronze. Bronze created by mixing copper and tin. Metallurgy = The technology of metals
