Prepare to end semester Midterm Prep Performance Ready

20a. The State of the Union GO: For 10 points, login right away to Lesson 20a. LEARN: Follow the Lesson 20 slides reviewing expectations, learning about the Midterm, and learning your status in the class. SHOW: Keep your Piano Journal open (minimized) for the instructor to see for 10 points.

20a. Midterm Prep The Midterm will ask you to do three things: 1. Reflect on the first semester (written). 2. Predict second semester challenges and successes (written). 3. Show your cumulative learning on the piano.

20a. Recital Please take out your phone and add May 9 th at 7pm to your calendar as the recital date and time. Remember, the recital is mandatory and counts as a large part of your Final grade. You only have to play one song, you must stay the whole time, and you must attend the practice that day at 3 o’clock. We will provide food. The recital starts at 7pm and is over around 8:15pm. Admission is $5.00 for family and friends. You must dress up in school-appropriate clothing that day.

20a. Grades If you have less than a D in this class, I want to help you. You were to fill out a Grade Help Form. Please see me as soon as possible to get that form. Thank you!

20a. Knowing where you stand In order to prepare well for a test, you need to know what you DO know and what you DON’T.

20a. Midterm Prep Copy the information below and paste it into your Piano Journal. 20a. Once you’ve pasted the rating scale into your journal, play through each section of each song and score yourself 1-5 (5 is best).

20b. For the First Time GO: For 10 points, immediately open your Piano Journal. Open sheet music and run through the learned songs to effectively prepare for your Midterm. If you have less than 5’s on any part of any song, you need to keep working. LEARN: Use Finale software to maintain strong rhythm for 10 points. Use Structure and Lyrics Sheets to learn the order of the songs. SHOW: I will be around to see your Self-Assessment Scores before the end of class. Please keep it minimized on your desktop for quick access. =10 points. For the First Time Make-up Tests if anyone needs to make it up.

20c. For the First Time Performance Ready GO: Immediately open For the First Time for 10 points. Let’s talk Structure! LEARN: For 10 points, look at the chorus remind yourself of the approach to the first and second ending and the repeat sign. Play through the Chorus part showing you understand the idea of the 1 st and 2 nd ending. SHOW: For 10 p’s, Write how the first and second ending works on a Music Slip. You will need to show this on your MidTerm.

20d. Faithfully GO: Open your Faithfully sheet music and play through each part of the song for 10 points. LEARN: Use Finale software and the structure sheet to strengthen your rhythm and rehearse the order of the song for 10 points. SHOW: We will all-play. Show proper rehearsal and performance etiquette for 10 points.

20e. All-Play GO: For 10 points, login right away and open Faithfully and review the parts of the song for 10 points. Any students who owes a test or who would like to UP their score should do so today. LEARN: For 10 points, play along with the group learning the elements of playing with an ensemble. SHOW: While we All-Play, show proper rehearsal etiquette while playing for 10 points.
