Background  Annually collect survey data from >15,000 post-secondary institutions, schools and day cares in accordance with Public Health Law.  Assess vaccination coverage and monitor compliance with immunization requirements. 2

Methods  Used existing Health Commerce System (HCS) to house school survey application.  Worked with existing software framework to create OSAS. 8

Methods  Expanded the Communications Directory to include schools.  Recruited schools for HCS accounts. HCS accounts needed to access the HCS. HCS accounts needed to access the HCS. 9

HCS  Secure system accessible via the Internet -- anytime, anywhere.  Up-to-date information on important and timely public health issues is available on the HCS. 10

HCS  Provides access to the latest NYS health alerts.  Free for schools.  HCS accounts are password protected. 11

Benefits of OSAS  Eliminates most frequent completion errors.  Instant confirmation that the immunization survey data has been received.  Help buttons next to each data entry field box display instructions for completing that field box. 12

Future  Anticipate over 9,000 schools will report via OSAS in the next few years.  More NYS agencies will utilize the school survey system. 17
