Exchange Studies 2016/2017 Anna Lindahl Director of International Affairs

What will happen today?

Who is involved/responsible for what?

Academically The Director of International Affairs at SBE (i.e. me) Program Coordinator Peter Caesar Administratively – practical issues International Office (IO) – central LNU level Everything + result You. – Exchange studies is not a human right, it is an opportunity – You decide what it will become – Your effort is an investment for the future

What are our options?

Exchange ISM Programme Semester 4 Semester abroad to broaden your skills Mandatory Year 3 (semester 5+6) Double Degree A year abroad with set courses in Bern, Switzerland A bachelor’s degree from us + A bachelor’s degree from partner institution (Two documents) (Requires approx. 12 months previus work experience, fulltime, in total.)

What must we study? Degree

ISM Program Semester 4 A full semester of 30hp Compulsory Language and/or Business culture Other subjects to broaden your skills Double Degree (year 3) One year abroad, 60 ECTS, according to pre-approved curriculum

Which level are we looking for? Semester 4 North America + Asia = course code level 200/2000 – 399/3999 Europe = year 2 (for 3-year programmes), year 3 (for 4-year programmes)

What do we need to think about?

The Application Process… Online application Information about you Rank 6 universities you want to go to in your order of preference Academic statement Deadline OUTSIDE of Europe – December 1 st, Deadline for European partners – February 1 st, Deadline for all remaining agreements but only for SPRING EXCHANGES – April/May No late applications (or replies) are allowed Ranking % of passed courses out of total amount of registrations % of VG out of total amount of possible VG-grades Attach studies from other academic institutions of higher education Everyone is your competition basically Nomination MUST REPLY YES OR NO!

Destination?

Where can we go? Not a free choice anymore for semester 4. First application round – placements outside of Europe (deadline December 1 st, 13.00, 2015) – ISM-students can apply in this round in order to find a placement outside of Europe. If they are nominated for a placement in this application round they cannot apply in the second or third rounds. (These two rules apply to all students at LNU, not just ISM-students)

Where can we go? Second application round – placements within Europe + remaining placements from round one outside of Europe (deadline February 1 st, 13.00, 2016) – For the exchanges within Europe, ISM-students can only choose placements within Europe that have been designated exclusive for ISM- students. A list of these placements will be available later this fall. An ISM-student can chose to exchange one option in his or her application within Europe for a placement outside of Europe but does then stand the risk of not being nominated at all.

Where can we go? Third application round – remaining placements from round one and two + possible new placements from new exchange agreements signed after January 2016 (deadline May/June 2016). – The ISM-students who have not been nominated for an exchange placement in round one or two will only be able to choose amongst the remaining exchange placements within Europe pointed out in round two. – The ISM-students who are not nominated or chose not to accept their nomination, alternatively fails to accept their nomination on time, will not be offered any more chances. In order to participate in semester 4 the students will then have to find a placement of their own somewhere as a freemover and not as an exchange student. As a freemover the student will have to pay tuition at the university which he or she applies to.

Designated placements (last year) Fontys Hogeschool (campus Venlo) – the Netherlands IPAG (campus Paris or Nice) – France Pôle Universitaire Léonard de Vinci (Paris) – France Fachhochschule Heilbronn University (Heilbronn) – Germany Fachhochschule Neu-Ulm (Neu-Ulm) – Germany Budapest Business School (Budapest) – Hungary Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Barcelona) – Spain ZHAW School of Management and Law (Winterturen) – Switzerland ISEG – Portugal Porto - Portugal

Where can we go USA Most subject areas Canada Good but tough Australia Highly competitive Asia Hong Kong, Macau, Korea, Thailand = OK Europe Focused areas of study Pre-selected partners for ISM

Where should we reconsider going? Asia Mainland China

Important dates… Early NovemberApplication opens (outside of Europe) Handbook for exchanges available on MyMoodle December 1 st, 13.00Deadline exchanges outside of Europe February 1 st, 13.00Deadline partners within Europe
