b787 NAMEPORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHER (WATER) PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHER(HALON) 2.5LBS SMOKEHOOD(OXYCREW)=PBE (PROTECTIVE BREATHING EQUIPMENT) PORTABLE EMERGENCY LOCATOR TRANSMITTER(ELT) DESCRIPTIO N *Portable and a standard item for all airplane. *attached by a quick-release mounting strap. *Portable and a standard item for all airplane. *attached by a quick-release *A pressure gauge is provided *Generates oxygen through chemical reaction. *If the inhalation resistance increases, it indicates an empty oxygen source or defective equipment. *equipped with a speech transmitter for communication. *equipped with two RESCU 406(SE) ELTs. *a rotary switch located on the bottom of the Elt. I.ARM-ELT transmission will commence on immersion in water. II.ON-Used for manual activation of ELT transmission. III.OFF-Deactivates ELT transmission. IV.TEST-Engineering function only. *An LED indicator located at the top of the ELT that illuminates when it is transmitting. DURATION*a discharge range of approximately 20tf. *30 to 45 *a discharge range of approximately 2meters. *12 sec *approximately 20min.50hours PRE-FLIGHT CHECKS 1.Correct quantity. 2.Proper location. secured in brackets 3.Ensure that the safety wire and seal installed Correct quantity. 2.Proper location. secured in brackets. 3.Ensure that the locking pin is in place and needle in the pressure gauge reads in the green band Correct quantity. 2.Proper location. secured in brackets. 3.Ensure that the seal and yellow serviceability indicator are intact. 1.Correct quantity. 2.Correct location 3.Secured in bracket. PURPOSEUsed for fires of ordinary combustible materials(fabric, paper, plastic=class A) Used for extinguishing ALL types of in-flight fires. *protect the wearer during emergencies(smoke, fire or fumes) *used be during fire-fighting. Operation water: 1.Secure End of Lanyard Cord to a suitable tethering point to the edge of the raft 2.Put the Transmitter Overboard into the Water. The antenna automatically erects and the lanyard is released when the water-soluble tape dissolves. When the transmitter is immersed in water, the water activates the battery. *ensure that the rotary switch located in ARM *operate one transmitter at a time Operation on land: 1. Rotate the rotary switch to the ON position. NOTEUsed for cooling and damping down deep seated fires after using the Halon. It is normal phenomenon The fire may flare and appear to grow larger When halon comes in contact with the fires. *should have seal intact and an unbroken yellow serviceability. *Avoid leakage, long hair must be pushed through the neck seal *check the fit of the inner mask *cover the user’s nose and mouth tightly. OPERATION1.Rotate handle fully clockwise to pressurise the extinguisher. 2.Hold extinguisher upright and aim nozzle at base of fire. 3.Press lever to discharge. 1.Pull out ring pin. 2.Hold extinguisher upright aim at base of fire. 3.Lift carrying handle and squeeze trigger down with thumb. 1.Open the container by pusing up the locking clamp 2.Open the sealed bag by ripping off the tear strip. 3.Take out the PBE 4.Don the PBE 5.Pull down the lanyard to activate the starter candle. 6.Fasten the body belt around the waist. CAUTIONUnfit for drinking because of including anti-freeze compound For Electrical fires, Remove power source*when the mask fits badly, PBE increase in poisonous carbon dioxide. *Do not wear sharp-edged earrings and necklaces. *avoid depressing the hood or fastening straps. No WARNINGDo not use on Electrical fires, grease and oil fires *avoid discharging directly on person. *if the extinguisher is to be discharged in a confined area, smokehood is requred, When the respiration resistance increases: 1.Check correct fitting of the mask 2.Taking 5 deep breaths 3.Remove PBE OF Replace if required. no
