Authorization Permissions on the portal are managed by two types of permission sets Site Map (Content Management) Permissions Subject of this sections' discussion Used to managed front-side editing and web page access Web Pages, Web Files, Forums, Blogs, Events, Ideas Anything that has a URL and is an OOB feature Entity Permissions Anything else; including custom entitles Used by Entity Forms and Lists Will be discussed as it’s own topic
Web Roles Allow named roles to be assigned to Contacts A given contact can be in any number of roles A given role has any number of related permissions records, of various types Site Map permissions are per-entity and include Web Page, Event, Website, Idea, and Forum Access Permissions
Web Roles Default Web Role Defined by the Authenticated Users Role field set to true Any authenticated user not directly assigned a web role will be assumed to be in this role Defines the base difference between an authenticated and Unauthenticated User when it comes to permissions
Web Page Access Control Rules Used to BOTH protect/restrict content (pages/URLs) on the portal AND to grant front-side editing permissions to a user Hierarchical – access, or lack thereof, to a parent in the Site Map will determine access to a child Scoped to a webpage A given permissions definition will apply to the defined page and all of its descendants (children, grandchildren, etc.)
Web Page Access Control Attributes Name A Descriptive Name for the Permission definition Website The related Website Web Page Defines the Web Page for which the Permission is being defined The rule will apply to all descendants as well Right Defines the Right that is being applied: Grant Change Restrict Read Description Description of the Permission
