Active Directory Confidential and Proprietary to New Brunswick Public Schools Slide 2  All NBPS staff are assigned a user-specific Active Directory login o Staff username is firstname_lastname o Default staff password is nbps2015 and must be changed to personal & confidential password with at least 8 characters o Forget your password? Technology staff do not know the personal & confidential passwords and can only reset the password  All NBPS students are assigned a user-specific Active Directory login o Student usernames are the 5-digit NBPS student ID number (if necessary, include leading zeros) o Student passwords  K – 5 student passwords are nbps followed by the username  6 – 12 student passwords are nbps followed by random 5 digits assigned during student registration  6 – 12 student forgets password? Teachers can retrieve password from RealTime student information webpage  Active Directory login is used to login on any NBPS computer

Google  NBPS Google account domain  All NBPS staff and all NBPS students are assigned an NBPS Google account with username and password the same as Active Directory  All NBPS Google accounts include a Google Mail (Gmail) account o Mailbox is unlimited in size o Student Gmail accounts are restricted to sending to & receiving messages from domain  All NBPS Google accounts include a Google Drive o Google Drive is unlimited in size o Google Drive is backed up by Google  Confidentiality protection for NBPS Google accounts o Google cannot view messages and/or document attachments in Google Mail. Google cannot view documents in Google Drive. o Google cannot provide access to or provide messages and/or documents in Google Mail or Google Drive to third-parties o Google requires court order before providing messages and/or documents in Google Mail or Google Drive to government and/or law enforcement agencies and must provide NBPS with prior notice Confidential and Proprietary to New Brunswick Public Schools Slide 3

Transition from Exchange  NBPS Exchange domain  All NBPS staff are assigned an NBPS Exchange account with username and password the same as Active Directory o Exchange has Outlook and Outlook Web Access user interface o Exchange mailboxes are limited in size  Currently, Exchange and Gmail are separate and independent. Transition from SAN Home Drives Confidential and Proprietary to New Brunswick Public Schools Slide 5  All NBPS staff are assigned an NBPS Home Drive on the NBPS Storage Array Network (SAN)  SAN Home Drives are limited in size; recommended storage for staff files, documents, etc is Google Drive
