Frequently Asked Questions This presentation addresses many questions that are asked repeatedly. If you have a question concerning an issue not addressed here please feel free to ask.

What time can my child arrive at school if they are a car rider? Car riders should arrive at school no earlier than 7:20 am. Where should students report when they arrive at school in the morning? If your child is going to breakfast they can go straight to the cafeteria, otherwise they should go to the gym until released for class. This is for your child’s safety, other areas of the school are not supervised by teachers. How long should my third grade child read each night? Each child should read at least 20 minutes each night. When should I sign my child’s agenda? The school agenda is used daily to record items such as homework assignments, and daily behavior. Please look at your child’s agenda and sign or initial it nightly. What is the best way to pay for my child’s lunch? You can send your child’s lunch money daily, weekly, or monthly. You also have the option of depositing any amount to your child’s account. Checks for lunch money should be sent in on Monday.

Can I write one check to pay for lunch if I have more than one child at Silverhill School? No, each child will need a separate check due to cafeteria procedures. They are not allowed to credit more than one account with one check. Can I send my child’s snack money weekly? No, each child must pay for snack daily. We are not allowed to keep money in the classroom overnight. What time does the school day begin? School begins at 7:45 each morning. All students arriving at school after 8:00 am must sign in through the office.
