CTAP 295 Final Presentation Shirley Baker Chowchilla High School

Who Am I  High School Teacher Grade 10 English  Yearbook Advisor  Newspaper Advisor  My website: /baker/public_html

Expectations  Know how to develop a website  Know how to create links  Know how to produce images and sound  Acquire a broader knowledge of the computer

What I Actually Learned  How to develop a powerpoint presentation  How to create a website (sort-of)  How to create a spreadsheet  I am becoming more confident with the computer

Successes And Shortcomings  My students were unfamiliar with the history that surrounds this novel. Therefore, more time should have been devoted to historical events. Having students tell their story and then acting the best story out as a group proved to be a great success.

Shortcomings In A Nutshell  Vocabulary – spend more time one  Students need more computer experience

Successes In A Nutshell  Found idioms on a website  Found allusions on a website  Students created a map of the town. Helped with comprehension

Student Data  100% of my students improved  Individual growth was significant

Summary of Revisions  I was able to observe where I should review  I was able to determine which students needed extra help  The following revisions were made during CTAP 295:  I had to revise my objectives  I had to update my website  I had to revise my post test

Suggested Revisions RevisionsSuggestions Revise ObjectivesRefine Revise Post TestModify to meet refined objectives Update WebsitesHave student check links

Conclusion  I believe student’s interaction with a standards-based lesson developed from a website is a positive way to get students excited about learning.  This entire experience has challenged me to develop more website lesson plans that are standards-based.  This format allows students to work on this at school or home.
