Equality Objectives Required to review and republish Equality Objectives by April 2016 Setting effective equality objectives will be critical in meeting the duty and in working towards improved outcomes for all the protected groups. To be effective equality objectives should be outcome focused, proportionate and be developed through meaningful engagement with service users.

Equality Objectives To achieve the aims of the PSED equality objectives need to focus on the most significant equality issues and be sufficiently wide in scope. Based on adequate information and proper engagement. Key aim of the objectives is to drive better outcomes for people from protected groups Specific, measurable, realistic and achievable within a clear timeframe.

Equality Objectives Welsh Government Approach. For objectives WG asking: –Do you think this issue should continue to be prioritised in an equality objective for the WG –If yes, do you think it needs to be updated and if so, how? –If you think it is no longer a priority as an equality objective, why is this? North Wales Public Sector Equality Network –Joint cross sector objectives –Combined engagement & consultation –Specific organisational action plans

Strategic Equality Plan Strategic Equality Plans –Purpose of the SEP is to document the steps a listed body is taking to fulfil its specific duties. –List of requirements within the EHRC guidance –Once all that information is included, it is up to the authority to include any other pertinent information. –Engagement critical –Due regard to relevant equality information
