About a Refugee by Jungmin Hong

What Is a Refugee? a person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster. a person who is outside his or her country of nationality and can't return due to a well-founded fear of persecution because of his or her race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group.

Why is this a social justice issue? At the end of 2013, there were 16.7 million refugees worldwide, with the highest number in Pakistan (1.6 million). 50% of refugees are under the age of 18. Developing countries host 80% of the world’s refugees. :Major refugee populations include Palestinians (4.8 million), Afghans (2.9 million), Iraqis (1.8 million), Somalis (700,000), Congolese (456,000), Myanmarese (407,000), Colombians (390,000), Sudanese (370,000). it is hard to accommodate and responsible for all the refugees Under international law, refugees are not allowed to be forced back to the countries they have fled.

Any Ties to Other Social Justice issues? Homeless Racism Food and Hunger issue Terrorism Global poverty illegal immigration Crime

Syrian Refugees Syria’s civil war is the worst humanitarian crisis of our time. Half the country’s pre-war population more than 11 million people have been killed or forced to flee their homes. Families are struggling to survive inside Syria, or make a new home in neighboring countries.
