What is Employee Engagement? Employee engagement is about: Motivated employees Employees who are passionate about BSA’s success Employee retention Employee productivity Employee’s relationship with their manager Customer Service Employees who come to work excited and ready to give 110%

Survey Methodology An invitation to complete the online survey was sent to 827 national and 1,879 local council employees on July 5, The survey closed on July 24, 2012 with 612 national council employees responding, resulting in a response rate of 74.0 percent and 1,163 local council employees responding, resulting in a response rate of 61.2 percent.

National Council Job Satisfaction (84.3%) I have the opportunity to do what I do best every day. The mission/purpose of the BSA makes me feel my job is important. My opinions seem to count. I am paid fairly for the work I do. My manager builds a sense of belonging in my department or team. Managers in the BSA live and honor the Scout Oath and Law. My supervisor allows me to maintain a good work/life balance. In the last 7 days, I have received recognition or praise. Drivers of Job Satisfaction – National Council 53.9% 79.6% 68.1% 68.6% 70.6% 71.4% 91.0% 83.2% 2012 Employee Engagement Survey Research & Program Innovation Page 5 Drivers explain 46.9% of Job Satisfaction rating.

Local Council Job Satisfaction (82.4%) I have the opportunity to do what I do best every day. My opinions seem to count. I am paid fairly for the work I do. My supervisor allows me to maintain a good work/life balance. Managers in the BSA practice authentic leadership. The mission/purpose of the BSA makes me feel my job is important. Someone at work encourages my development. Managers in the BSA live and honor the Scout Oath and Law. In the last 7 days, I have received recognition or praise. My supervisor, or someone at work seems to care about me as a person. The cost of my benefits package is a good value for the money.
