By Ian Gillingham

 Title - ‘The Red Zone’. Science-fiction film released in cinemas and then DVD.  Main characters – Shaun Monroe, Justin Reed, Jane Monroe.  Set in post-apocalyptic world and particularly an area known as the red zone.  Plot is based around Shaun and his best friend Justin.  Immunity to the virus.  British stereotypes.  Running time minutes, follows similar films running times.  Opening scene  Key scenes  Final scene

 The budget for my film would be roughly £5 million.  Suitable amount in order to pay salaries.  Filming would be done in remote parts of countryside as their public ground.  Renting/buying equipment.  Roughly £1 million will go into post production.  Crew hire. Promoting British talent. More experience for senior roles.  Tax relief from the BFI. Backing from the National Lottery.  Product placement.

 Filming will take roughly 12 months, filming on 4 days each week. The entire production will take roughly 2 years.  Majority of filming will be on public land so wouldn’t have to book locations.  Launch date for my film will be in April. Relating to similar genres. Good time to release film.  Core filming days would be Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Cast can have days off also lead personal lives.  Post production – high quality/distribution.  Complications with filming - change dates and make the most of time.

Shaun Monroe – relatively known actor. Draws in their fans to watching the film, convincing performance. A few actors that I would consider for the lead role in this film are: Asa Butterfield (Left), Jeremy Irvine (Middle), Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Right). I feel that these actors would be able to give a convincing performance. Justin Reed – relatively unknown but fairly known in Britain, not Caucasian, ethnic diversity. Convincing performance in the best friend role. A few actors I would consider for this role are: Alfred Enoch (Left), Ashley Walters (Middle), Noel Clarke (Right). Jane Monroe – Unknown older woman that could convincingly play the lead characters mother.

 Looked at Shaun of the Dead and The World’s End - similar target audience.  16 – 30 year old middle/working class males.  Likely to use slang and potentially some swearing - less appealing to the upper class.  Main characters are males - can relate to the characters and their personalities.  Targeted at the British public but would still appeal to a wider audience.  Also people who are into post-apocalyptic programmes/films such as The Walking Dead, Mad Max and I Am Legend.
