EFARO – ICES Meeting October 2012 ICES will develop an initial outline of expected expert resources required to successfully accomplish the 2013 workplan and will identify in as much detail as possible, the specific expertise needed. Develop a “living document” that will serve as a resource planning tool. By the end of 2013 the outline should also be used to access actual needs and identify potential gaps. This will enable ICES and EFARO Institutes to find the most efficient ways to carry out and deliver advice.

Some Initial Conclusions A pool of 1,100 to 1,200 experts are participating in ACOM Expert Groups (not including Review, Advice Drafting, ACOM, Secretariat, Preparatory Work) These experts contribute between 5,600 and 6,400 person days in direct physical meetings in expert groups contributing to ICES advice Some countries have provided substantially larger contributions in terms of number of experts participating and person days UK; Denmark, Norway; France, Germany, Ireland, Spain and Sweden; Same pattern with chairs; UK largest contributor with 7 countries providing most chairs A similar pattern emerges when looking at Review Group and Advice Drafting Groups
