Adverbs and Prepositions

Points to Note: What are adverbs? Adverbs are the words that tell you how an action is done. e.g. happily, softly, quietly. The children are playing happily. The soldier marched smartly.

Prepositions usually occur before a noun before a noun phrase (e.g. at the canteen). They show the position, time, place or direction. Points to Note:

We went to school at seven o ’ clock. Mary met her mother at MTR station. The mouse ran from the cat. For examples: It shows the time. (when?) It shows the place. (where?) It shows the direction. (where?)
