Los Mandatos Informales Informal Commands

What is a command? A command is telling someone (politely) what to do or not to do. Spanish has two types of commands. Formal and Informal. Informal (tú commands) are used with people you use the “tú” form with in Spanish. What are some examples of people the tú form is appropriate for? Family Friends Peers children

How to form a regular, affirmative, tú command Affirmative = telling someone what to do Put the verb in the él/ella/usted form. Add punctuation. Ejemplos: Run! ¡Corre! Speak Spanish ¡Habla español! Read the book! ¡Lee el libro!

Te toca a ti…Your turn! Listen! Write! Study the verbs! Sing! Dance! ¡Escucha! ¡Escribe! ¡Estudia los verbos! ¡Canta! ¡Baila!

How to form a negative tú command. Drop off the ar/er/ir. Add the OPPOSITE tú form ending. Ar verbs = es Er/ir verbs = as Add “no” and punctuation.

Negative tú/informal commands Don’t talk! Don’t run! Don’t write with pen! Don’t eat the cookies! ¡No hables! ¡No corras! ¡No escribas con bolígrafo! ¡No comas las galletas!
