English 101-A

 Be able to name the 6 steps to the writing process.  Be prepared for True/False questions on the 6 steps of the writing process.

 Know the definition of a paragraph  Be able to identify topic sentences in a paragraph

 Be able to name the 3 steps to writing effective paragraphs  You will also have questions similar to exercise 2 on page 49 where you have to select the best example of a supporting detail.  Be able to tell me what type of support I am using if I give you supporting sentences.

 Know the definitions for the 8 parts of speech  Be able to tell me how the underlined word in a sentence is being used (I will not give you sentences where pronouns are used as adjectives).

 Be able to identify the simple subject and simple predicate in a sentence.
