What is Bullying? When one person intentionally hurts another person in a physical, verbal or emotional way. It is usually repeated several times against the same person. Happens when there is a difference in power between people. This power difference can be in size, strength, or status in a group.

What is Bullying? Pushing, shoving, kicking, or otherwise physically attacking another person. (Physical) Purposely excluding or ignoring someone. Spreading rumors or gossiping. (verbal) Using words or actions to intimidate someone. (emotional)

Bullying is… Teasing another person about his or her body, intelligence, race, religion, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic that upsets that person Insulting others or name-calling Making threatening phone calls or sending mean s or text messages

Bullying is also… Posting cruel pictures or messages about someone on-line Using someone else’s identity inappropriately in , instant messaging, or elsewhere on-line.

What could you do? STAND UP! -if you feel comfortable, say something to stand up to the bully and make it stop! Let them know what they are doing is WRONG!

At your tables…. Read the scenario on the card. Discuss and decide: What would you do? REPORT – SUPPORT – STAND UP

Helping hand…. On a piece of construction paper draw the outline of your hand. Cut it out Write the name of someone who you could go to for help on each of the fingers (you should have 5 different names)
