What information is available that is health related- for children Educators –K-12 health curriculum –Need lesson plan information –Need sites to point students Parents –How to care for their children Children –School projects (same sites we give teachers) –Personal health objectives

Educators According to NYC Department of Education HealthTeacher, is a comprehensive, skill- and assessment-based, elementary school health education curriculum that focuses on the following nine units of study: –Alcohol & other drugs –Anatomy –Community & environmental health –Family health & sexuality –Injury prevention –Mental & emotional health –Nutrition –Personal & consumer health –Physical activity –Tobacco

NYS – Health Education Standard 1: Personal Health and Fitness –Students will have the necessary knowledge and skills to establish and maintain physical fitness,participate in physical activity, and maintain personal health. Standard 2: A Safe and Healthy Environment. –Students will acquire the knowledge and ability necessary to create and maintain a safe and healthy environment. Standard 3: Resource Management. –Students will understand and be able to manage their personal and community resources.

Sites for Parents, kids and teens I like to find sites that are specific to the parents concerns… –How to potty train –What’s that spot on my kids leg –Why does the rash look like that? (yuck) Kids and teens doing research to fulfill teacher assignments Kids and Teens looking up information about their own health –Like to have those sites split…separate sections because kids and teens…are drastically different
