Grammar Third Conditional

Presentation Read the sentence and answer the questions. In the past, if I had wanted to see them, I would have had to visit them in person. a) What time is Grandpa Chen talking about: past, present or future? b) What happened: Did he travel to see them? √ No.

Grandpa didn’t travel to see them, he just talked about unreal situation in the past and imagined things that didn’t happen. Third Conditional can be used to express this. It is formed in this way: If+ 主语 +Past Perfect, 主语 +would/could/might +perfect infinitive If I had got a good job, I would have saved more money. (But I didn’t get a good job and didn’t save much money.)
