Jubilee Games: The Vision To develop, promote and sustain world-class athletes Jubilee Games: The Mission To foster a sustained culture of athletic excellence and physical well-being within the global Jamat, strengthen community identity and engagement, and enhance awareness and appreciation for Imamat initiatives

Jubilee Games Objectives To identify world-class/elite Ismaili athletes, encourage their participation in Jubilee Games competition and create a mechanism that encourages their participation in community development. To enhance and enrich the overall health and fitness of the Jamat To facilitate a broader and deeper awareness of the work of the Imamat institutions; leverage the Jubilee Games to inspire a willingness and desire to contribute to this work. To bring together a large number of Ismailis who represent the Jamat’s international social, economic and geographic diversity.

Six things to know about 2016 Jubilee Games

1. Opening Ceremony The Opening Ceremony will take place on 23 July at the Dubai World Trade Centre to celebrate the official start of the 2016 Jubilee Games. The Opening Ceremony is the Host City’s official welcome to all participants of the 2016 Jubilee Games and honours the athletes participating in the Games. With a breathtaking entertainment programme, all participants will be inspired, invigorated and encouraged to embrace excellence in sports and in any field of endeavour. The programme will also highlight and celebrate Dubai — the Host City of the 2016 Games.

2. Global Village The Global Village is the central hospitality and information hub of the 2016 Jubilee Games. It will ensure that participants have a sense of belonging, comfort and acceptance throughout the Games. The Global Village will feature a new theme for each day of the Games as well as interactive and educational activities about healthy living. The Global Village will also feature IllumiNations: A World Showcase, a bazaar-type exhibition, where participants experience the sights, sounds, colors, traditions and culture of 30 countries from around the world. Last but not least, the Global Village will include Host Country Extravaganza, which highlights the modern-day culture of United Arab Emirates and Gulf Countries in the region through entertaining performances intended to move, inspire and energize!

3. Athletes’ Lounge 4. Game Day Content For 2016 Jubilee Games athletes only — the Athletes’ Lounge is where our athletes will go to recharge, rest and meet fellow athletes. With its awe-inspiring decor, the Athletes’ Lounge is fit for the world’s best competitors. 4. Game Day Content To enhance the spectator experience during our Women’s International Volleyball finals and Men’s Football finals, the 2016 Jubilee Games features a diverse line-up of entertainment and game-day experiences featuring high calibre performances, dances and concerts.

5. Signature event Al Musiqa Tajma'ona- A Global Concert is a featured signature event, which embraces our diversity and celebrates our unity through music and culture to create excitement about the 2016 Jubilee Games. Witness the coming together of high caliber, world renowned performers and musicians. Get ready to sing, dance and stand united as we celebrate our diversity through music! The Global Concert will be held on 25 July 2016.

6. Closing Ceremony The Closing Ceremony marks the official end of the 2016 Jubilee Games. A celebration of excellence, the Closing Ceremony will showcase breathtaking state-of-the-art performances filled with vibrant colours, sights and sounds. The Closing Ceremony will take place on 29 July 2016 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Sports and Programme Venues Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) DWTC is the central venue for the Jubilee Games and hosts a majority of sports including badminton, basketball, chess, football, throwball, volleyball – international and traditional, and wrestling. The DWTC also houses all non-sports programmes and activities at the Global Village, Athletes’ Lounge, and Signature Event facility.
