14 14 London 2012 Games What is Get Set? Get Set (www.london2012.com/getset) is the official London 2012 education programme. It’s for schools and colleges across the UK and it supports 3-19 year olds to explore the Olympic Values of friendship, respect and excellence and the Paralympic Values of courage, determination, inspiration and equality.www.london2012.com/getset Through the Get Set website, teachers and students can access lots of free resources such as interactive games, downloadable films and images, and fact and activity sheets. These resources are great for prompting discussion around the Values, as well as bringing learning across the curriculum to life by linking it to the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Rewards and recognition – the Get Set network Schools join the network by completing a simple application form answering three questions: why they want to join the Get Set network; how they are demonstrating a commitment to the Olympic and Paralympic Values; and what they plan to do in the future. Members of the Get Set network receive a plaque and certificate marking their school’s achievements and the right to use the London 2012 education logo on their website, school sign and letterhead. They also gain access to money-can’t-buy prizes like tours of the Olympic Park and visits from athletes. Ticket Share Working together, the Mayor and LOCOG will distribute 125,000 tickets to London schools through the Get Set Network. Schools that joined the Get Set Network by December 16 2011 will receive enough tickets to allow 1 in 8 of their 10-18 year olds students to attend the Games at no cost to themselves or their families. 84% of London schools, colleges and educational establishments joined the Network by the deadline. Almost 92% of 10-18 year olds studying in London attend these schools. If you just count state schools 91% of London state schools joined the network before the deadline. Pupil coverage in these schools is 96%. 77% of state special schools in London joined the network by the deadline as did 59% of London PRU's. Pupil coverage in these schools is 83% and 63%. Tickets will be distributed for every sporting discipline. Approx 1/3 of the tickets will be to Olympic events, 1/3 for Paralympic athletics in the Olympic Stadium and 1/3 for Olympic football at Wembley Stadium. The programme is entirely funded by a levy on Prestige ticket sales.
