RED TELEPHONE BOXES - designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott - the colour red was chosen to make them easy to spot - from 1926 there is a prominent crown, representing the British government - the red phone box is often seen as a British cultural icon throughout the world RED TELEPHONE BOXES

PILLAR BOXES - they are found in the United Kingdom and in most former nations of the British Empire, members of the Commonwealth of Nations and British overseas territories ( Australia, Cyprus, India, Hong Kong,  Malta, New Zealand ) - the boxes have been in use since 1852 - the red post box is regarded as a British cultural icon - there are over 100,000 post boxes in the UK PILLAR BOXES
