EVERNOTE & PENULTIMATE iPad Applications In Education…

So many Applications to choose from!!!

Evernote is simple to use and comprehensive Cloud-based Application. In addition, the Evernot group has multiple associated applications that are made for and integrated to work specifically with Evernote.

Lists and Web-Clipping One of Evernote’s most enticing options is the ability to make and share lists as well as clip and collect information and websites using it’s “webclipper” add-on for web browsers.

File Sharing There are many file-sharing options that are useful to educators. Evernote does a nice job of integrating File- sharing as part of its overall interface in a user friendly manner. As part of this file sharing function, Evernote integrates into other apps, making uploads and saving easy to do.

Organization In addition to the ability to clip and share links, documents and websites, Evernote allows for easy organization of all you information and materials. Evernote also provides a keyword search option to help you quickly and effectively find information you saved.

Collaboration The file sharing option is quite useful in education, allowing students to share notes and information. Additionally, the search option also applies to text within an image. This way, images of class notes, study guides, and whiteboards can easily be searched to find relevant information quickly and easily.

Personal Interests Evernote also has useful applications to everyday life, tasks, and interests. If you need to keep track of it, Evernote’s easy interface can probably help you do it.

Sign-up Sign up is free and easy. There is a subscription option that allows for larger storage, uploads, and other options.

Premium Services Evernote Premium services include security password access, off-site access, larger upload size, and keyword search in PDFs, to name a few.

iPad Homescreen The iPad home screen provides you with tabbed options based on different ways of organizing your information- Places, Tags, Notebooks and All Notes.

Organization- Notebooks Notebooks is Evernote’s version of Folders. Notebooks are one way keep files organized and control what information you are sharing with others.

Organization- Keyword Files and documents can also be organized by a specific Keyword that is common to the files

Organization- Places Evernote, if given location permissions, can track uploads, file creation and adjustments using maps and location tags.

Penultimate! Penultimate is an iPad App created by the makers of Evernote that allows users to draw, write, cut paste, and add pictures. Penultimate is integrated with Evernote to save files and allow them to be shared and collaborated on with others.

Web-based Access Evernote also allows web-based access and interfacing, using the same tools as the iPad App. This photo was shared from my account on the Facebook mobile app into my Evernote account.

Mobile App Option The mobile App shows files and uploads based on your preferences. I have mine sent to show the most recently used files on top! It also gives a small preview of each file.

Mobile App Options As you can see, the mobile app gives clear access to some of the options that make the app so useful. Paperless Classroom Overall, the Evernote and Penultimate Apps are excellent tools for use in the classroom. These Apps help to contribute to a paperless classroom while allowing for sharing and collaboration amongst students and between student and teacher!
