Integrated Seminar 101 (ISEM 101) Integrated humanities/social science Taken during the fall or spring of the first year –If you have an introductory course in your major during the fall, you should consider taking this course in the spring Does not have to align with your major

Great Issues Seminar (ISEM 301) Junior-level course tied to a university “signature event” or other activity of campus-wide significance.

Advanced Placement (AP) Credit See Registrar’s website for a complete list Approved AP courses will count in the UI Core based on your AP test score Tell someone today if you intend to have AP credit

Degree Audit on VandalWeb

Advocate for yourself! All universities are confusing. If you have questions, please ask someone.

Schedule for Success Take at least 15 credits each semester –Increases likelihood student will be successful in first year –Improves chances student will graduate

Schedule for Success Take an ISEM or humanities/social science course that really interests you Balance difficult courses Take elective courses just for fun Get some exercise

Creating a schedule What to include: 1.Appropriate English Course 2.ISEM 101 or Humanities/Social Science 3.Appropriate Math and/or Science Course 4.Introductory Course in your Major 5.P.E., elective, etc.

Rules of thumb: 1.For every hour of class time, you will have to study two hours out of class. 2.Papers always take longer to write than you think they will. 3.Math is a foreign language. You should practice it everyday.
