Project Overview Funded by Telematics Applications Programme. Provides supporting actions to projects in Telematics for Research sector. Coordinates activities with other relevant networking organisations. Project Partners: –TERENA –Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium

Information Service SCIMITAR2 Web Server provides central on-line information service: – –Overview of Telematics for Research Sector. –Links to all project home pages. –Links to all public project deliverables. –Links to associated activities (e.g. NECTAR, TEISS, ETHOS, istADVISER ). –Fifth Framework Programme Information. –Standardisation activities (including travel reports). –Electronic Journal. –News Section.

Electronic Journal & News Electronic Journal published quarterly that reports on developments of interest to the sector: – Frequently updated news section: – –Announcements of project meetings. –Summaries of project meetings. –Activities of interest to sector. –Announcement of project results.

Concertation Activities Electronic mailing lists available: - General informational list for sector. - All project managers. - Main technical contacts for each project. - User group on the future of European research networks. Concertation Meetings: –Later in 1999.

Standardisation Fund established to provide partial reimbursement (up to 50%) of travel expenses to international standardisation meetings. Approved organisations (so far): IETF, W3C, ISSS, ITU-T, MPEG. All applications circulated on Project Managers list for comment, then to DG XIII for final approval. All travel reports published on Web Server: – Travel funding procedures also available: –

TfR Open Seminar / Demonstrations Opportunities at annual TERENA conference for projects to present their results. Sessions allocated within the conference programme. Free demonstration facilities available at conference exhibition.

Web Server Statistics Generated each month. Approximately 351 hits per day.
