The topic for this term is: Minibeasts This will include: Looking at exciting books such as: The Very Busy and The Hungry Caterpillar. Exploring the outdoor environment and taking a closer look at Minibeast using magnifying glasses Creating minibeast outdoor habitats Growing our own vegetables Looking at the lifecycle of a butterfly as we watch them evolve in our very own Butterfly house.

During Numeracy we will be looking at: Money (2p, 5p, 10p, 20p) – Number sentences using money: 2p+2p=4p 10p-5p=5p Doubling and halving numbers to 10 Recording data – Making tally charts Time: To use everyday language related to time and the past/present/future (yesterday, today, tomorrow, next/last week) During Numeracy we will be looking at: Writing simple sentences using finger spaces Using a capital letter and full stop when sentence writing Rhyming words Writing simple words or sentences independently

To go to the library or use the internet to find a fact about a mini-beast. (Photocopies/Print-outs of he information found would be fantastic!) Children will need to write a sentence or a word about their chosen mini-beast and draw a picture to go with it.

We are sure that you are aware of our Celebration Assembly that is held every Friday in the school hall at 9:10am. We would like to remind parent’s/carers to please keep filling in Magic Moment slips for your children. It is always fantastic to hear how well your child is doing out of school, and we would like you to share any magic moments you may have with us in assembly.

Daily phonics to help learn new sounds and key words Please label your children's belongings including, coats, bags, hats, gloves and lunch boxes Books bags need to be in school every day Money must come into school in an envelope or a sealed bag Please ensure you read all letters. Spare copies will be in your child’s classroom

Has your child got a water bottle in school? At Rainbow Forge we like to encourage you to listen to your child read on a daily basis. This will help to support their progress. Could you kindly comment in the book each time you have listened to your child read. Mrs Hibberd takes the Foundation Stage for PE on a Wednesday Morning – Please make sure your child has a PE kit left in school throughout the year.
