Apprenticeship Programme Southwark Council

Background  Scheme started in 2006  Council placements and with partners; SERCO, Vangent, London Councils  Target 20% of intake young people leaving care - reported to Parenting Committee each year

How it works  Provides the opportunity to gain both work based skills and valuable qualifications  Earn while you learn  Excellent work experience  A competitive salary  Nationally recognised qualifications  On and off the job training

How it works cont.  Information advice and guidance (IAG) to help you develop your career beyond the apprenticeship  Working within Southwark Council or with one of our partners, you will be given a contract of employment for a minimum of 12 months  You will receive support from the central apprenticeship team, line managers and learning provider assessors and tutors  We also provide coaching and mentoring support to ensure all apprentices are empowered to succeed in their placement.

Our achievements  27 apprentices currently on programme  44 have progressed to higher level qualifications or university  73 have moved into employment  124 have completed the full framework qualification  168 have started the scheme since its inception in 2005
