Jefferson defeats Adams:  He ties Aaron Burr

 The House voted to break the tie and it stayed tied until the 36 th vote in which Jefferson was elected President  Hamilton persuades Federalists to vote for Jefferson… Why?  He believed Jefferson would do more for the country

Tie be/ Jefferson and Burr reveals flaw in system  Congress passes 12 th Amendment (separate ballots for President and Vice-President)

July 11, 1804 – Burr/Hamilton Duel HHamilton fired into the air BBurr shot Hamilton in the stomach (Hamilton dies next day) BBurr charged with murder Video Clip –> “Aaron Burr & Got Milk”
