Creative Spaces Collective (CSC) Presentation Dublin City Council Strategic Policy Committee (SPC) Arts, Culture and Recreation

Creative Spaces Collective (CSC) - determined that the City of Dublin is a place for artists to work, for the benefit of citizen, visitor and worker alike. CSC is a widely ranged group of artists and organisations at the heart of artistic life in Dublin CSC arose out of Broadstone Studios, the oldest studio Collective in Dublin, losing their building in 2015 like many others, unable to face down the rising rents and fragile leases in 2016 Dublin. Looking for a model for Dublin to provide cultural infrastructure to combat the growing exodus of Artists from Dublin City, a natural home for culture.

Journey through the city transformed by the creative impulse With artists, Dublin and other cities where artists live and work are ‘streets’ ahead of sterile environments the ‘appalling vista’ Dublin without artistic production and cultural infrastructure cannot be allowed to become an option – artists can help to counter this.

Embracing the artist leaves a legacy of buildings, spaces such as Temple Bar, Coombe, Smithfield / Grangegorman Legislators can prevent the Market being the sole arbiter of the profile of Dublin Dublin emerging from austerity backed up and caring for its infrastructure, enabling those who kept the faith during hard times to thrive and grow Former Broadstone Studios at Harcourt Terrace Pallas Studios

21st century Dublin should be allied to greening, clever mixed ecologies, productive and creative industries Fields of planning and living, often working in parallel lines, working together 21 st century models of regeneration, where the City and traditional population movements take on changing economics and new building models for planning

Vision and respect between fields of endeavour - culture, housing, retail, services along with planning, can work together The changing fabric of the City is an international issue, linked to the other challenges facing Major cities – Artists work internationally so in- the-field knowledge is available

A studio in 21 st century Dublin can be a wide variety of facilities and places Community in 21 st century is changing, identifying communities of interest and place

Working with Dublin City Council so that the Development Plan is a platform for the legacy of early 21 st century, through a clear strategy
