The Future of the School I came to this school from an outstanding primary school because I saw both the potential and the challenges. The Local Authority have indicated they expect to expand the school to two forms of entry by Sept The school has rapidly improved in the last three years and is continuing to improve. Everything is in place for the school to be even more successful in the future. Pupil numbers continue to increase and we expect to be oversubscribed this year. Reception Year and Year 1 are now over capacity.

What OFSTED Said Marden Primary School required improvement based on historical data from 2011 and 2012 and teaching required improvement from 2011 and I knew that when I came and that is why Governors and the Local Authority appointed me. There has been rapid improvement in the last 2/3 years (see the report and current data) Leadership had already improved to good and the behaviour and safety of pupils was already good. We are due an inspection. School and Local Authority are confident the school is now good.

What OFSTED said about Leadership Leadership and management are good because, in a relatively short time, they have brought about rapid changes and improvements to the school. Since his appointment, the headteacher has developed a strong vision and a strong and clear drive for improvement. This has resulted in a marked rise in standards and rapidly improving rates of progress for all groups of pupils. The headteacher and senior leadership team have worked hard to eliminate any teaching that does not come up to standard and make sure that all teaching is now good. The school works effectively with parents and they are positive about the school and the service it provides. These improvements have continued and become embedded. Effective leadership will continue to raise achievement and the quality of teaching further – it has already done so and OFSTED have recognised this very clearly in the report.

Transition into school Once places are accepted in April Parents meeting Children come to school for activities in summer term Teachers meet with you individually to discuss your child and their needs and interests – at school or as a home visit Teachers visit your child in their preschool setting You become part of our school community and can join in events and activities In September we phase entry so teachers and children get used to routines Workshops so you can support your child at home with what they are learning in school
