Worker Protection Standards The Worker Protection Standard (WPS) is a Federal regulation that is intended to reduce the risk of pesticide poisoning and injury among agricultural workers. Private applicators (Farmer or Ranchers) who hire pesticide handlers and/or workers must display application information in a centrally located area accessible to all employees before a pesticide is applied. Commercial applicators must provide this information to the agricultural employer before making pesticide applications. Information must be displayed for 30 days after the end of the REI. If there is no REI on the label, the information should be displayed for 30 days after the application.

Identification of Equipment All vehicles used by a commercial applicator during the conduct of business shall be identified by displaying the name and license number of the company on both sides of the vehicle in letters not less than two (2) inches in height. Box 1677, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Pest Management Section, Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, ( ), P.O. Cleaning of Equipment  When application equipment requires cleaning:  The applicator should clean the equipment, (tanks, hoppers, booms, hoses cleaned.) and flush it out on a labeled site they have permission to access.  The applicator Should Not clean the equipment at a car wash or on a drive or the street where the runoff can contaminate a storm drain or other water way.

PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)  Companies should provide all PPE required by the pesticide label/labeling of each product utilized.  The PPE should be in good condition and accessible to all Certified applicators and Service Technicians  PPE should be utilized during handling, mixing, loading and applications of all pesticides per label directions  Examples: Coveralls, goggles, chemical resistant gloves, respirators, long sleeved shirts, pants, shoes and socks.
