2 Halliburton Life Rules
Revision Date: August 2016

3 Halliburton Life Rules
The Halliburton Life Rules are a set of 10 core factors that affect personal safety. They are based on our HSE standards and are a tool to communicate critical requirements to our employees. The Halliburton Life Rules are to be used in all our businesses and operations. They apply to every employee and every contractor, in every region and every operation. The Halliburton Life Rules were developed to help everyone to work and to go home safely by assisting in identification and mitigation of hazards. Stop Work Authority is central to each Life Rule and plays a fundamental role in preventing incidents. © 2016 HALLIBURTON. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.

5 Driving Safety Driving safety includes every aspect of the journey from start to finish, including people and equipment. Plan your trip using Journey Management. Inspect your vehicle, secure your load, obtain all required licenses and permits. Wear your safety restraint at all times. Utilize your In-Vehicle Monitoring System where available. Keep the driver alert, engaged, and monitor changing travel conditions (front seat passenger role). Notify your supervisor when an adjustment to a planned journey must be managed or considered. © 2016 HALLIBURTON. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.

6 Work Permit Work permits are necessary to perform non-routine, high-risk activities. Ensure risk assessment and control procedures are performed. Contact your supervisor if you have questions or uncertainties. Do not perform work until the work permit is approved and signed. © 2016 HALLIBURTON. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.

7 Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
PPE is the required equipment to protect employees from hazards Understand the proper use and care of the PPE. Understand the risks of the job, and select and utilize the right PPE for the task assigned. Ensure proper fit and serviceability throughout the work. © 2016 HALLIBURTON. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.

8 Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO)
LOTO ensures the control of all energy sources while employees conduct their work. Apply and remove locks only if you are an authorized person and have been properly trained. Apply and remove locks and tags in accordance with documented LOTO procedures. Obey all LOTO signs and do not attempt to remove locks or tags unless you are the person that applied them. Ensure all energy sources are properly isolated, locked and tagged before starting any repair or service work. © 2016 HALLIBURTON. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.

9 Confined Space Confined spaces limit the ability to exit and may contain a hazardous or oxygen deficient atmosphere. Ensure that all confined spaces are identified and labeled. Confirm that emergency equipment is ready to use and mandatory work permits are obtained. Ensure that all employees participating on the confined space entry team have been trained on their roles and responsibilities. Test and monitor the atmosphere in confined spaces and ensure that you have the proper safety equipment before entry. Do not enter a confined space until energy isolation has been verified. Do not attempt rescue unless you are a member of the trained confined space rescue team. © 2016 HALLIBURTON. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.

10 Working at Height Barriers and fall arrest systems prevent and mitigate falls when working at height. Use a full body harness and fall arrestor, secured to a proper anchor point, when working above 4 feet or where hazards may require additional protection. Inspect all equipment before use and ensure that hand tools are secured at all times. Ensure that all guard rails and barriers are in place before starting work at height. © 2016 HALLIBURTON. 11 Chemical Handling Handling chemicals safely means you understand and respect their hazards. Never handle chemicals until you have received the required training. Read and understand the Hazard Communication Program for your job site, including how to access Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Never mix or store incompatible chemicals together. Know the nearest location of emergency spill kits, eyewash and shower stations, and always keep a clear path to them. Immediately report to your supervisor if there is a release of chemicals, if you come into contact with chemicals, or if you feel ill during or after working with chemicals. © 2016 HALLIBURTON. 12 Dropped Objects Inspect tools and equipment before lifting and secure them before working at height. Establish restricted areas where overhead work is occurring. Never walk under a suspended load. Ensure that no loose objects are left behind after completing work at height and account for all tools. Utilize drops risk assessments and drop control plans to identify and mitigate dropped object risks. © 2016 HALLIBURTON. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.

13 Hand Tools Appropriate safety gloves and tools are core components of hand safety. Be aware of line of fire, pinch points, and cut and puncture hazards when positioning hands. Wear hand protection as specified in risk assessments and Job Safety Assessments (JSA). Inspect all tools before use and only use properly maintained tools that are appropriate for the task. Use your Stop Work Authority if you have any doubt about the safety of a job. © 2016 HALLIBURTON. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.

14 Lifting and Hoisting Inspect tools, equipment, and travel route before performing the lift. Perform inspections at the start of each shift and before equipment is used. Ensure required monthly and annual comprehensive inspections of equipment have been performed. Ensure that only trained and authorized personnel are operating lifting equipment. Do not walk or stand under a load while a lift is taking place. Use tag lines and push/pull sticks to guide suspended loads. Do not use your hands. Utilize drop control plans to identify and mitigate dropped object risks. © 2016 HALLIBURTON. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
