Programme –Why are competencies so important? –What do you really want to do? Exercise in how to become more aware of your career goals –Break –What can you do? Exercise in how to put your professional competencies into words –Break –What are your core competencies? Exercise in how to put your personal competencies into words –The story about you from the CV, through the application to the interview. CBS CAREER CENTRE

Why are compencies so important? –The employers’ 3 top priorities, when they look for a new student employee or a fresh graduate: Motivation Personal competencies Professional competencies –In the end it is all about what benefits the company –Short term and long term – the career profile –Important awareness to get you to the front of the queue CBS CAREER CENTRE

What do you really want to do? –The most important question –To know what you want comes first –What should I choose? The world of today – make it your opportunity –Reach for the job of your dreams and think in ”stepping stones” CBS CAREER CENTRE

Exercise in how to become more aware of the job of your dreams –You have 5 minutes to answer the following questions: Which former tasks have you had that you liked? – in your studies, in a job or in a leisure interest Which types of tasks would you like to do in a future job that you haven’t already tried? Which working conditions are important to you at a job? (geography, colleagues, boss, working hours, company culture etc.) –At home: Go to careergate.cbs.dk and jobindex.dk and let yourself be inspired about tasks, you would like to be part of the job of your dreams. Prioritize what is most important for you. 80/60/40 % exercise CBS CAREER CENTRE

What can you do? –The difference between professional and personal competencies –Professional competencies can come from: Work experience Courses (fx. a course in innovation) Leisure activities –If your are good at it, you have used it! –The employers want competencies – it is not so important, where they come from –They mainly want the ones, they are asking for – use the job ad! –Always give examples of your competencies. A competence without an example is just a postulate CBS CAREER CENTRE

Exercise in how to put your professional competencies into words –Underline all competencies – professional and personal – they want from you, and all the tasks they want you to do –Choose 2-3 of the professional competencies og 2-3 of the personal competencies, they are looking for – 5 in total –Two and two together, help each other put into words which professional competencies you have that can be used in the job. 5 minutes each.

CBS CAREER CENTRE Exercise in how to put your professional competencies into words –What was hard? What worked well?

CBS CAREER CENTRE

Exercise in how to put words on your personal competencies CBS CAREER CENTRE –Think about two things, you have done in your life, you are proud of –Get together two and two. Help each other write two PAR-stories

What are your core competencies? CBS CAREER CENTRE –What was hard? –What worked? –At home: All your PAR-stories – also going forward –The value of PAR-stories: in the cover letter and in the job interview

CBS CAREER CENTRE The story about you from the CV, through the application to the interview –The story about you is, what sells you to the job– what do you want to do, what you can do and your PAR- stories –The career profile is what lies the foundation for your story
