You will be assigned a letter - A, B, C, or D. Sit together with the students who have the same letter as you. Imagine you are starting your day in America or the country you were born in. For your category, make a list of every problem or issue you observe or experience from the time you wake up until the time you go to sleep. PEOPLE PROBLEMS Problems to do with your generation, your parents generation, your friends and relatives, relationships, health, etc. Group A (6 students): brainstorm SOCIETAL PROBLEMS Problems to do with Macau society, transportation, systems, injustice and unfairness etc. Group B (6 students): brainstorm EDUCATION AND SCHOOL PROBLEMS Problems to do with students and school programmes at the primary, high school or tertiary level. Group C (6 students): brainstorm WORKPLACE PROBLEMS Problems to do with jobs and employment, competition, workplace conditions etc. Group D (6 students brainstorm)

Health insurance), laziness, unhappiness, irresponsible, hours, bad boss

PEOPLE PROBLEMS -Hi-Bye friend problem (socialization and communication skills) -Generation gap (misunderstandings) -Conflicts between classmates and friends (different opinions) -lack of respect towards elderly -spoiled children (material goods, protection, money) SOCIETAL PROBLEMS City overload (locals+ foreign workers, investors) Fewer Job opportunities (competitors, imported labour) -public transport (too many bus passengers) -taxi driver discrimination towards passengers -housing and inflation (cost of living vs. salaries) EDUCATION AND SCHOOL PROBLEMS -online enrollment is extremely bad / always breaks down -not enough quotas so students forced to take courses they don’t want -group project participation is unequal -bullying between students -primary teachers = dictators WORKPLACE PROBLEMS -employees welfare (having to do OT unpaid, not enough holidays) -stress and disorders -ageism, sexism in the workplace affecting opportunities and promotion -working environment, poor conditions, air quality, crowding -high unemployment, industry too narrow
