Disneyworld Wanted to expand into an area where 75% of the population lived Located in Buena Vista Florida Opened in 1971

Disney Around the World

American Culture Disney is a major symbol of the American Culture Used most of their models for the American Parks as basis for their other world locations –Layout –Attractions –Foods –Entertainment/ characters –Merchandise

Concerns The mixing of western and eastern cultures The adapting of the park’s attractions and characters to reflect the culture of the locations country. Excluding other tourist from other countries wishing to experience the Disney Culture.

Adaption Disneyland Tokyo: Cinderella's castle in middle of park rather than Sleeping Beauty’s Karaoke for guests through out the park Food Choices reflect that of American and Japanese culture More Live shows than at American Disney parks

Disneyland Paris: Changed attractions like Tom Sawyer’s Island for Discovery Land that exhibits European artists and visionaries. Only Disney park that allows drinking with meals. Focused on the European Folk Tales Accessible to all Europeans.

Disneyland Hong Kong: Used the Chinese elements like Feng shui, in the design of the park Used popular Chinese customs into the design and placement of attractions Also incorporated traditions into the selling of merchandise Includes a balance of local foods with an American twist.

Disneyland Shanghai: Most customized Disney Park to date Will not include some attractions in the American version of the park. Will incorporate many Chinese traditions like entertainment and food choices

Negative feedback Japan: Only Japanese spoken Paris: Originally did not incorporate French culture. Hong Kong: Did not understand local holiday’s. Also did not understand their dinning styles

Conclusion
