3 Walt Disney World Walt Disney World opened on October 1, 1971 and covers 30,080 acres of land. Located within the resort are several theme parks that were created for years to come after the opening. The first theme park to open was Magic Kingdom (1971), followed by Epcot (1982), Disney’s Hollywood Studios (1989), and Disney’s Animal Kingdom (1998). Several water parks also emerged over the years such as Typhoon Lagoon (1989) and Blizzard Beach (1995). Other attractions within the Disney resort include Downtown Disney (1975), Disney’s Wedding Pavilion (1995), Walt Disney World Speedway (1995), Disney’s Boardwalk (1996), and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex ( 1997). Along with all the parks and attractions, Disney also has 33 hotels or resorts located on the property.

5 Disneyland The Disneyland resort opened on July 17, 1955 and has expanded over the years to consist of 510 acres of land. The resort consists of two theme parks which are known as Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Along with the parks is the famous location known as Downtown Disney which is home to many shops, dining, and entertainment areas. The resort also has several hotels such as the Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Grand California Hotel & Spa, and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel. Disneyland is further broken down into several areas such as Main Street USA which is the central location after entering the park. Along with Main Street other areas that have been open since the opening of the park include Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland. Other attractions added later include New Orleans Square, Critter Country, and Mickey’s Toontown.

7 Disneyland Paris Euro Disneyland opened on April 12, 1992 and is spread out across 4,940 acres of land. This Disney resort consists of two theme parks, seven hotels, and a shopping, dining, and entertainment complex. The resort is broken down into three main areas which are known as Disneyland Park, Walt Disney Studios, and Disneyland Village. The two parks are known as Walt Disney Studios Park and Disneyland Park which is further broken down into Main Street USA, Discoveryland, Fantasyland, Adventureland, and Frontierland. The Disneyland Village is a location best known for having shops, dining, and entertainment areas. Located on the resort are seven Disneyland Paris Hotels to provide guests with many places to stay.

9 Hong Kong Disneyland Hong Kong Disneyland resort opened their doors on September 12, 2005 and consists of 320 acres of land including Hong Kong Disneyland theme park, the Hong Kong Disneyland hotel, Disney’s Hollywood Hotel, and several stores, dining, and entertainment areas. The original areas of the park consisted of Main Street USA, Adventureland, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland. In 2011 there was an addition of Toy Story Land and in 2012 Grizzly Gulch. Coming in 2013 will be an area known as Mystic Point.

10 Tokyo, Japan

11 Tokyo Disneyland Tokyo Disneyland resort opened on April 15, 1983 as a single theme park but has expanded into a resort that covers 494 acres of land. The development into a resort also brought along two theme parks, three Disney hotels, six other hotels, and a shopping center. The resort has three main areas for entertainment known as Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea, and Ikspiari which is similar to Downtown Disney. Tokyo Disneyland park, like the other theme parks, is split up into different land areas. These areas are known as World Bazaar, Adventureland, Westernland, Critter Country, Fantasyland, Toontown, and Tomorrowland.
