ICT For Development Education and Social Justice

What is ICT? Information and communication technologies Range of technologies for gathering, storing, retrieving, processing, analyzing and transmitting information ICT in education deal with the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) within educational technology Purpose of ICT in education is to familiarize students with the application of computers, and related social and ethical issues

What ICT Does Creates effective use of knowledge are key to rapid economic growth Changes the terms under which knowledge is created and disseminated Facilitates process of codification and transmission of knowledge about technology

What ICT Does Enhances the positive learning externalities of knowledge generation by magnifying the possibilities for recombination of ideas and information “Fades” geography by providing new ways for researchers to escape national boundaries Increases the “distribution power” of innovation systems Enhances the dissemination, application, and use of mature technologies
